Spider Man

20 05 2009

Ethan has a new infatuation with spiderman, he loves him! It is the newsest thing around our house. It is pretty funny, but at times can be quite frustrating! Ethan will not wearanything other than his spiderman suit and his spider man pyjamas that resemble a spider man suit.

In other news Ethan is getting baptised on tje 30th of this month which is quite exciting and long overdue.

The only other thing that is happenin around the fort is that next week on Tuesday we are off to Hamilton to see BOB THE BUILDER LIVE. Ethan is so excited it’s not even funny. I think that we are going to rent a car as well as a hotel room. Our friend LeeAnn can get us discount rates on the room, so we will stay in a jucuzzi suitereal cheap, yeah yeah!

My parents are taking Ethan for the whole week-end this week-end and I do not rememebr a time that we had a week end to ourselves since we moved into the pace we currently rent, which was August well over two years ago when Ethan was justa  babe and he went Grama Sandy’s for the week-end while we packed and unpacked. We are pretty stoked..not that we would want to rid ourselves of our bevoved boy, but we are long overdue.

Tata for now, Kerry Peace

Back!

12 04 2008

Hi, sorry I have been on a hiatus recently from posting. I just had to drop a little line to let everyone know that, ETHAN PEED IN THE POTTY!!!!!!!!!!!! I am beyong excited, yep, all on his own, he peed, in the potty!

He said,  ”potty mama”, and I was like “okay, we have been through this before”, usually to no avail, but I still obliged and opened up his potty and stripped him from his diaper. I went into the kitchen to stir lunch and Ethan comes in and says, “come mama, come!” So I follow him into the living room where his potty sat, and he points into it, and lone and behold…oh my gosh!! There is peeh in there! He did it! He peed all by himeself, and even in the potty, not on my floor! Yeah! There is some progress, just as I was starting to get discouraged! If anyone who is reading this has any advice/tips, please feel free to let me know, I would be happy for a little advice!
Go Ethan Go!

More Bob

6 04 2008

So I happened to be in the downtown Cobourg area and stopped into beyond the blue box, which is a depo that accepts then sells used goods. Everything ends up at this place, anything ranging from clothing to electronics, to cameras, to baby stuff.

I could not believe my eyes when I just about to exit the store, there were a pair of work boots sticking out from a very large pile of stuffed animals. I recognized these work boots. So I geta little closer so I could see even better and there he was a two and a half foot Bob the Builder, instantly I feel like a great mommy, and I just knew that very soon I’d be going home to greet my husband and the happiest kid in Canada, when he saw what mommy has come home with!

Sure enough I peek around the corner with Bob’s head and the greatest squeel in the whole world can be heard filling up the apartment. “BOB!!!!!!!!!!” He was oh so happy! He was jumping all around, screaming in delight, making me just feel the best mommy ever who has absolutely no problem at all conquering the world for my little guy! If only I could feel this way all the time, unfortunately it takes more than Bob the builder to make my boss as happy as that.

Ethan watched his movies with Bob, ate his supper, played…then eventually was off to bed with his new bestest friend ever!!!

Oh yeah…..and the price for making my sons day, week, no year a whopping ten cents, yep you heard that right ten cents! I love thrifting.

Potty Training

29 03 2008

Yes the time has come, Ethan is now two years old and we are starting to familiarize him with the potty and so consequently we will be familiarizing him with his pee and poop too. My mom, Ethan’s grandma got Ethan the most fabulous potty training tools. She got him this little doll named Henry, he has a potty that he can sit on. the cute little doll comes in a diaper taht can be taken on and off to show his…..no……couldn’t be…..yes!! It’s a penis, why do you ask does this two year olds doll have a penis, well cause it has to be realistic silly, how can we teach our children that pee comes out of there and then goes in there if there is no “there”. That was a tad confusing, but you know what I mean. So this little doll also comes with a DVD and a book, the book is great the DVD is great I highly recommend this as a tool to help train kids to enjoy learning about the potty. There is a song that sings good bye to your pee and goodbye to your pooh that my son adores and when he sees the children on the DVD singing this song and playing with their potties he really wants to sit on his potty and sing the song too. This is just great considering he did not even want to sit on it before.

I will be updating the potty training ventures often!

The Two Year Old and the Tantrum

17 03 2008

hpim0814.jpgWe have been having the awful issues of tantrums now for the last few months. They range in issues; anywhere from I do not want to cover up Bob the Builder on my shirt with that coat, are you crazy, to full out on the floor kicking and screaming, sweating and crying. I get extremely upset when this happens and feel like crying right along with him. I try and try to tell myself, self, be calm you are the parent, it’s just these tantrums have a way of making me feel like I am doing something wrong, or not doing something right.

I know this is a silly notion and I know that this too shall pass, but when and can I hurry it up?!

I hear myself saying things like, “I cannot wait till summer so we do not have the fights over the coat anymore”. Instead of saying, “how can I proactively deal with this and try to limit these little episodes.

I have come to the conclusion, we may just have to put all of the Elmo, Pooh and Bob shirts away for a while and just stick to the basic color ones. Whatever we decide to do we will try to do it in stride and remember when he is eighteen I am going to be wishing that I can turn back the hands of time and have my little two year old back, tantrums and all!

Ethan and Tatum

12 03 2008

Ethan and Tatum really love each other, they are lucky enough to go to the same day care and get to see each other often. I hope they will always have a very special relationship. They are cousins you know.

More Pooh

12 03 2008

hpim0882.jpghpim0881.jpgI went into a local thrift store called horizons of Friendship yesterday and I came across these great winnie the pooh wooden chairs, they are so great. Ethan adores them and they even have storage compartments underneath the seat area. They were six dollars, really ya cannot beat that and what is even greater: all money collected at Horizons of Friendship goes right back into the community, for things like the womans shelter and emergency aid for people in need. Anyone local has to stop in at this store, you are sure to find a treasure!

Winnie the Pooh

5 03 2008

Ethan and one of his many elmo’s

Ethan loves Winnie the Pooh, he loves watching it reading it, wearing it and playing with it! Sometimes I think we are going to magically become a part of these worlds we are constantly tuning into. I mean this week it’s Pooh, Bob the Builder has just become a constant, and before that he was all about Elmo. I know all of theme songs by heart, we sing them often.

I really hate entering toy stores knowing there will be some figurine, or toy, or stuffed future friend my son will see and instantly want.

I took Ethan to a play date with his new friend Aiden and Aiden just do happens to be as obsessed with Bob the Builder as Ethan is, so he has tons of “Bob” stuff. Let me just say they did better than I thought they would but oh my! Let’s just say the play date had to be a little bit short. Ethan got a new Scoop from Aiden that he totally loves and cherishes it! He plays with it all of the time. Now I find out that my sister Renee has ordered him an electronic scoop that he can actually ride around on! Sweet! He is gonna really love that, she has already showed me up and Easter’s not even here yet! I guess I am really gonna have to look high and low to beat that one!

Ethan trying on hats and mits

I just had to post picture as spring will be here very soon and I will not be getting these types of shots forever! Ethan was having a very fun day here trying on mittens and hats and scarves and just about evrything else he could find in the wicker basket that I keep all of our outdoor stuff in.

Our Little Boy

4 03 2008

my son Ethan

To watch that little boy             mar_620085.jpg
Dance barefoot
Under the sky
Reminds me
Of my soul so carefree
And to watch that little boy
Smile so happily
To laugh so heartily
Reminds me
Of my eyes so merry
And to watch that little boy
Explore and touch
Create and learn
Makes me wish
My life were that happy
